ACU Track and Field Competing For WAC Title in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. - The Abilene Christian men's and women's track and field teams head to Spokane, Wash., for the final Western Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday. Spokane's The Podium Sports Center is hosting the event for the second consecutive year.
The Wildcats will be in the thick of the team championship battle. The men's team favorite is Utah Valley, with Tarleton State and ACU filling out the projected top 3 teams. The women's team race is very close, with Utah Valley and Tarleton State neck-and-neck, with UT Arlington just outside the top two and ACU fighting to break into the top three.
ACU is taking full squads to the WAC Indoor meet. Debuting at this meet is ACU football's wide receiver Raydrian Baltrip, who is entered in the 60 meters. Headed into the meet, ACU has two athletes atop the performance list in their event – Rhet Punt in the men's weight throw and Mariana Van Dyk in the women's shot put.
The men have several athletes in the top three for their events. Ranked No. 2 in their respective events are Benjamin Castro in the 800, Andruw Villa in the 5k, Miguel Hall in the 60 hurdles, Arthur Jenkins in the triple jump and Canaan Fairley in the heptathlon. Nickens Lemba is ranked No. 3 in the 400, as is the 4x400 relay team. For the ACU women, Ciara Tilley (shot put) and Nele Huth (pentathlon) enter ranked No. 2, while Emma Santoro (400), Natalie Poe (pentathlon) and the 4x400 relay team are ranked No. 3.
