Before ACU
Matthew competed for Colleyville Heritage in his high school years. He saw a dramatic improvement in his high school junior year, as placed 2 nd in the District 7-5A discus throw and then, finished 3 rd in the Reg I-5A DT, only missing the state meet by 2 inches. As a senior, he again saw big improvements in his DT and that led to him winning 7 meets in the DT that season, including the District 6-5A DT (also winning the district title in the shot put), the Area 5/6 5A meet; the Region I-5A Championship, and then, finishing 3 rd in the UIL 5A state meet in the DT. His personal best throw of 186- 5/56.82m in the discus at the area meet placed him at the #11 spot in Texas and the #78 spot in the U.S. His season-over-season improvement was substantial – 98-6 as a freshman; 112-7 as a sophomore, 168-8 as a junior, and his personal best of 186-5 as a senior. During his senior year, he also received the United States Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award.

Matthew graduated from Colleyville Heritage HS in the spring of 2025. At ACU, he is a Business Management major. His full name is Matthew-Bentley Udemba.
