Biography
2024-2025
Indoors – competed in 4 meets, after changing his primary event from the hurdles to the long jump. He finished 10 th at the TTU Red Raider Invitational in the LJ in his first long jump competition since junior high. At the WAC Championship meet, he placed 8 th with a personal best jump of 22-11/6.98m.
Outdoors – competed in just 2 outdoor meets, until an injury curtailed the rest of his season. At the ACU Wes Kittley Invitational meet, be placed 2 nd with would have been a personal best jump of 24-3/7.39, but the wind was above the allowable.
2023-2024
Indoors – did not compete.
Outdoors: Back on the track after an injury that ended his 2023 season, Horatio competed in 6 meets during the season. He ran on the 4x400 relay for ACU at both the Wes Kittley Invitational and the Corky/Crofoot Invitational in Lubbock – where he ran a collegiate PR time of 51.15 in the open 400. At the WAC Championships in Orem, UT, Horatio finished in 18th place in the 400 – his first time to compete in a conference championship meet for ACU.
2022-2023
Indoors – did not compete.
Outdoors – competed in 1 meet early in the season, but did not finish the season due to an injury.
Before ACU
Competing for Houston Christian HS, Horatio won the Southwest Preparatory Conference 300 hurdles and placed 4th in the 110 hurdles. With Horatio running the 2nd leg of the 4x400 relay, the Houston Christian quartet won the SPC title and placed 5th in the Texas Relays Division 1 race. His high school bests are14.90 in the 110 hurdles and 38.21 in the 300 hurdles, where he had the #6 fastest time in the nation for a private school athlete in that event. He also lettered in football in HS. He was the 2-time HS T&F MVP and holds the school record for the 300H and as a member of the 4x400 relay.
Personal
A 2022 graduate of Houston Christian HS. His parents are Horatio and Erica Brooks. He also has 2 brothers and a sister. At ACU, he is a Political Science major and also was a sophomore class representative in the ACU Student Government Association in the 2023-24 school year. Horatio has also been the Vice President with Brothers, Inc. and is a member of Nu Kappa Psi. In 2024-25, Horatio is also the VP of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee and a representative to the WAC SAAC as well. He interned during the summer of 2025 with the commercial real estate firm, Transwestern. He has been active as a volunteer with both the Movement Church in Houston and Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene.
Why did you choose ACU? Because of the spiritual aspect and the community at ACU.
What is your favorite thing about ACU? Definitely the community. The people here are what make ACU, ACU. It has been a great experience.
