Abilene Christian placed nearly 100 student-athletes on the Academic All-WAC lists for spring sports and freshmen/transfers from fall and winter sports, as released by the conference Tuesday.
Ninety-seven Wildcats were among those recognized for excellence in the classroom and in athletics. To qualify for the honor, a student-athlete must have completed one academic year at his or her institution, earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.2, and competed in 50% or more of his or her team's competitions.
For the second straight year the ACU women's tennis team led its sport with seven Academic All-WAC recipients. Baseball (20) and women's golf (7) tied for the most in their respective sports. The ACU baseball squad also led the WAC in 2024-25. The Wildcats had the second most softball honorees with 13.
The largest gains over the past school year were made in outdoor track and field where the men more than doubled their number of qualifiers to 10, and the women increased to 13.
The WAC will rebrand to the United Athletic Conference on July 1, and welcome new full-time members in Central Arkansas, Little Rock, Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, North Alabama and West Georgia. West Florida will be an affiliate member for football, but will compete in the Atlantic Sun (ASUN) Conference for all other sports.
