3/26/2026 6:38:00 PM | Track & Field
The Abilene Christian track and field team is affected by the weather again as it will head to Angelo State after their originally scheduled meet in Lubbock was moved to avoid cold weather.
San Angelo's David Noble Relays, named for the former track and field head coach, is always a good quality meet that concentrates on many of the Division II schools in the region. Besides ACU, the only other Division I school in the field will be Kansas State, who will have a few combined event athletes competing. Division II participants include Texas A&M-Kingsville, Dallas Baptist, UT Tyler, UT Dallas and Midwestern State, joining host Angelo State. McMurry and Hardin-Simmons will also be in attendance after competing at last week's Wes Kittley Invitational on ACU's campus.
This will be a week to build on a strong debut for many ACU athletes. The men's team will being a partial squad, composed of selected sprinters, hurdlers, and throwers. For the men, some athletes will be making their outdoor ACU debuts: Abraham Olufemi-Dada in the 100, and Durrell Collins in the 400, as well as Ethan Krause making his outdoor season debut in the 100. ACU will bring a strong contingent of throwers to the meet: Rhet Punt, Rylan Smart, Justin Smithey, and Matthew Udemba. The 4x100 relay will look to build a good time from last week, with one change to the lineup as Ethan Krause moves onto the relay joining Miguel Hall, Olufemi-Dada, and Collins from last week. The men's 4x400 makes an outdoor debut with Hall, Ryan McMeen, Olufemi-Dada, Collins, and Krause making up the relay pool.
The women are bring a considerably larger contingent this week. There will be two outdoor ACU debuts for the women: Darinasia Taylor in the 100, Lauren Foxworth in the 100 and 200, Kaycian Johnson in the 200, Alyssa Quinones in the 1500, and Skyla Riedel in the heptathlon. There will also be several athletes competing a new event than they competed in last week: Chianel Asoburuenwu and Morgan Morris in the 200; Chloe McClelland and Audrey Chitwood in the 800; Madison Anderson in the 1500; and Saylor Stevenson, Hannah Kasper, and Hadley Phillips in the 5K. ACU will also have jumpers Halle Gunter, Jaeden Thomas, and Kaia Anderson. ACU's strong group of throwers (Mariana Van Dyk, Sterling Glenn, Ciara Tilley, and Ella Cockrum) are back in action as well. The 4x100 relay is back in action with the same lineup as last week – Lauren Foxworth, Kee'Lani Whilock, Chianel Asoburuenwu, and Morgan Morris, with Darinasia Taylor in reserve. The women's 4x400 debuts this outdoor season with a group of 4 freshmen on tap – Morris, Johnson, Whitlock, ans Foxworth.
Skyla Riedel will start off things for the ACU women as she competes in the heptathlon on Thursday and Friday. Triple jump and shot put will occur on Friday evening and the bulk of the meet gets underway on Saturday, with both field events and running events commencing at 12:30.
