David Noble Relays Final Results

SAN ANGELO, Texas - The Abilene Christian track and field team picked up several first-place finishes at the David Noble Relays, hosted by Angelo State, this weekend.

Multiple freshmen continued to impress early in the outdoor season. First place finishes for ACU included:

Chianel Asoburuenwu led a 1-2-4 finish in the women's 100 with a time of 11.80, with freshmen Kee'Lani Whitlock (11.88) and Lauren Foxworth (11.99) close behind.
Freshman Justin Smithey won the discus with a season best throw of 167-8/51.10m.
Freshman Matthew Udemba grabbed a victory in the men's hammer throw with a throw of 176-1/54.29m (also placing 4th in the discus throwing 152-11/46.62m).
Miguel Hall won the men's 110 hurdles with the time of 14.40.

Other freshmen who performed well included Jaeden Thomas in the women's triple jump (2nd with a jump of 38-2.25/11.64m); Abraham Olufemi-Dada in the men's 100 (2nd with a season best time of 10.54); Morgan Morris in the women's 200 (3rd with a time of 24.91); Ella Cockrum placing 4th in the women's discus with a season best toss of 144-4/44.01m; Ciara Tilley with 5th place finishes in both the shot put (45-4/13.74m) and the discus throw with a season-best throw of 144-1/43.93m. Redshirt freshman Skyla Riedel also completed her first collegiate heptathlon with a 9th place finish total of 4,512.

Upperclassmen who also excelled during the weekend included Chloe McLellan, who tallied a huge personal best of 17:47.58 in placing 2nd in the women's 5k run; and Mariana Van Dyk, who placed 3rd in the shot put (45-5.75/13.86m) and 5th in the hammer throw (157-11/48.15m).

Several athletes were held out of the David Noble Relays in preparation of them competing at the Texas Relays. Canaan Fairley in the decathlon and Natalie Poe and Nele Huth in the heptathlon will get things started for ACU on Wednesday, April 1 in Austin.
