ARLINGTON — The Western Athletic Conference released its Academic All-WAC honorees for spring 2024 as well as freshmen and transfer honorees for fall and winter sports on Friday. ACU saw a total of 136 Wildcats receive honors, with 102 coming from the spring and 34 additions for the fall and winter.
To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests.
The 136 Wildcat honorees is the most ACU has seen out of a spring, freshmen and transfer list since it joined the WAC in 2021.
"I want to congratulate all our student-athletes who through their hard work and the support of our academic services team received this significant recognition in the classroom," Zack Lassiter, vice president for athletics said. "Balancing both school and sport at a high level is not easy but I appreciate how these individuals model that it can be done."
Men's track and field led the way out of the spring honorees with 22, followed closely by baseball and women's track and field with 19. Softball had 17 selections, men's tennis added eight, women's tennis and women's golf had six with men's golf rounding out the group with five.
Volleyball and women's indoor track and field added seven to their fall and winter honorees, with women's basketball just behind them with six additions. Men's indoor track and field and women's soccer added five honorees, men's cross country added two and women's cross country and men's basketball each added one more.
