Biography

2023-2024: Indoors – competed in 4 meets, opening the season at the JD Martin Invitational in Norman,
OK, placing 2 nd in the 60 with a PR time of 6.87, which placed him #10 on the ACU All-time Indoor
performance list in that event. Later in the season, Sean placed 14 th in the 60 at the Charlie Thomas
Invite in College Station and he would finish his first collegiate indoor season at the WAC Championship
placing 15 th in the 60 and 27 th in the 200. Outdoors – opened the outdoor season placing 8 th at the ACU
Wes Kittley Invitational in the 800. The following week, he placed 16 th in the Masked Rider Invitational
100, but was injured later in the same meet and received a medical redshirt for the season.

Before ACU: One of the premier sprint recruits in the state of Texas in 2023. In 2023, he ran a superb
10.32 in the 100 meters at the District 8-3A meet, along with anchoring Breckenridge to 2 nd  place
finishes in both the 4x100 and 4x200 relays. However, he was injured at the Area meet the next week
and was unable to progress to the state meet. His time at the District meet still held up as the #36
fastest time in the U.S. in 2023 for a high school student. In 2022, he also had a superb year, finishing
3 rd  in the 3A 100 at the state meet and anchoring Breckenridge to 2 nd  in the 4x200 relay at state. His time
of 10.25 in the 100 at the Area meet garnered him the #24 fastest time in the U.S. amongst high
schoolers. At the all-star Meet of Champions, sponsored by the Texas Track and Field Coaches
Association, Sean placed 2 nd  in both the 100 and 200 – his 200 time of 21.46 was a PR for him as well.

Personal: Sean graduated from Breckenridge (TX) HS in 2023 – where he was also on the A Honor Roll.
His parents are Kathleen Guerrero and Jerome Cooksey. His uncle, Roy, played football for former WAC
member, New Mexico State, and was drafted by the Miami Dolphins, but was unable to play due to a
knee injury. Sean is pursuing a Kinesiology and Exercise Science degree at ACU. He is also an active
member of his hometown church – the Elliott Street Church of Christ.

I chose ACU for the family aspect it gave me.
