ACU wins another WAC match with sweep of Lamar

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The ACU women's tennis team took on Lamar on Saturday afternoon, picking up a 7-0 victory in Western Athletic Conference action. The Wildcats have now won back-to-back WAC matches for the first time in program history, and the Purple and White have picked up three sweeps this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Allison Stewart and Sylvia Viljoen teamed up for a 6-1 victory in the top doubles flight, and Maryjoe Crisologo partnered with Andrea Guerrero to give ACU the doubles point with a 6-3 win on Court 3.
- Crisologo won the top flight by default, followed by a 6-4, 6-1 win from Stewart in the second flight to make it 3-0.
- Viljoen gave ACU the clinching point with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Noelia Lorca in the third singles flight.
- Guerrero picked up a 6-3, 7-5 win on Court 4 to push the lead to 5-0, and Ileana Mocciola came away with a three-set win in the fifth flight.
- Paula Garrote and Lamar's Emmeline Polevoi turned in the battle of the season on Court 6, with Polevoi taking the first set 7-6. Garrote stormed back with a 6-2 victory in the second set before finally prevailing in the decisive third set with a 12-10 win.
UP NEXT:
- The Wildcats wrap up the weekend in Stephenville on Sunday afternoon, when they take on Sam Houston. Doubles action is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
