
Wildcats Fall to Bulldogs as Part of Long Road Trip

RUSTON, La. — The women's tennis team (7-9) lost to Louisiana Tech University (11-2) 4-2 on Sunday at the LA Tech Tennis Complex despite hard-fought matches in singles play.
Louisiana Tech secured the doubles point with victories at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 3 doubles Jess Board / Alice Klinteby fell 6-2, while Maria Cascos / Masha Vrsalovic matched the result with a 6-2 loss.
The match featuring Victoria Correa / Angela Del Campo at No. 2 doubles was left unfinished with Louisiana Tech leading 5-2.
In singles, Louisiana Tech extended its lead as Vrsalovic fell 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. The Wildcats responded at No. 5 singles, where Cascos triumphed 6-3, 6-2.
Louisiana Tech added another point at No. 2 singles with Correa's 6-1, 6-3 loss, but Del Campo battled back to take the No. 3 singles match, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The decisive point came at No. 6 singles, where Louisiana Tech secured the victory with a hard-fought 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 win over Elsa Luthar.
Klinteby battled to a third set but the match at No. 4 singles remained unfinished as she trailed 4-2 in the final set.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will move on to face conference opponent UT Arlington on Friday at 2 p.m. The Mavericks are 3-10 on the season, with their most recent win coming at home against Butler University 6-1.
