Board's Four Victories Highlight Annual ACU Invite

Abiilene Christian junior Jess Board went 2-1 in both her singles and doubles flights to highlight the weekend at the annual ACU Invite at the Eager Tennis Center.
In Flight D of singles competition, Board earned wins over opponents from UT Arlington and Tarleton State. Board defeated Vanja Cado (UTA) 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 [10-7] before taking down Aruzhan Nurambay (TSU) in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4.
Board, from Sale, Australia, paired up with new teammate Alejandra Corroto to claim two victories against UTA teams: first, 6-3 over Suarez/Farkaslaki and then 6-2 over Cado/Kaibara.
The Wildcats have had to replace a strong foursome of seniors who led the squad in 2025-26. This season ACU's roster features seven newcomers to go along with returners Victoria Correa and Board.
The ACU Invite supplied the opportunity for six of those seven new players to make their debuts as Wildcats. The field was stacked with players from six Lone Star State teams, including two Power 4 schools: Texas Tech (Big 12), SMU (ACC), Texas State (Pac-12), UNT (American), UTA (UAC) and Tarleton State (UAC).

The Wildcats return to the court on Oct. 3-4 for the River State Shootout hosted by Texas State in San Marcos.

- Che Neal/Julia Ionescu reached the 3rd place match of Flight B doubles
