
Wildcats Drop Regular Season Closer to Texans

STEPHENVILLE — Abilene Christian University (8-13) fell to Tarleton State University (15-7) 4-0 on Saturday at the Tarleton State Tennis Facility. Tarleton State secured the doubles point and clinched the victory with wins in three singles matches.
Abilene Christian fell behind early as the Texans secured the doubles point. Tarleton State clinched the point with victories at No. 2 doubles, where Victoria Correa / Angela Del Campo fell 6-0, and at No. 3 doubles, where Jess Board / Alice Klinteby fought but lost 7-5.
The No. 1 doubles match featuring Maria Cascos / Masha Vrsalovic was left unfinished with a score of 6-6(5).
In singles play, Tarleton clinched the match with three straight-set wins as Elsa Luthar lost 6-1, 6-0, Klinteby's defeat at No. 4 singles, finishing 6-3, 6-1, and at No. 1 singles, where Vrsalovic fell 7-6(5), 6-2.
The remaining singles matches were left unfinished, including No. 2 singles, where Cascos was trailing 4-6, 6-6(1), and No. 3 singles, with Del Campo trailing 3-6, 6-6(2).
Additionally, at No. 5 singles, Correa led 4-6, 6-2, 2-3 before it went unfinished. The final dual score was 4-0 in favor of the Texans.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will head to Arlington for the final Western Athletic Conference Tournament, where they will participate as the No. 3 seed, taking on No. 2 Utah Tech (11-11) at 1 p.m. CT on Friday, April 17.
