
Wildcats Take Senior Day Victory Over UT Arlington

ABILENE — The women's tennis team (8-11) defeated The University of Texas at Arlington (5-13) 4-0 on Wednesday at the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion. The Wildcats secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions and continued on to sweep the singles matches.
Wednesday's match marked the final home appearance for four Wildcats – Maria Cascos, Masha Vrsalovic, Angela Del Campo and Alice Klinteby. Cascos and Vrsalovic have both been part of the Wildcat team for four years, while Del Campo and Klinteby transferred from UL Monroe before the 2024-2025 season.
It also marked the first time the Wildcats had played at home since Feb. 21, when they hosted Sam Houston State University.
ACU secured the doubles point against UT Arlington with victories on courts No. 1 and No. 2. Cascos / Vrsalovic delivered a commanding 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles. Meanwhile, Victoria Correa / Del Campo clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory against the Mavericks at No. 2 doubles.
Jess Board / Klinteby were tied 5-5 in their match, but it went unfinished after the Wildcats secured the point.
In singles action, the Wildcats extended their lead with Vrsalovic's decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory. Del Campo followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, bringing the score to 3-0. Elsa Luthar clinched the match for Abilene Christian, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-4 to secure the team's fourth point and the dual win.
The remaining singles matches were left unfinished, with the overall score standing at 4-0 in favor of the Wildcats.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will travel to Denton for their next match, as they take on the Mean Green from the University of North Texas at 3 p.m. on April 9. UNT is currently 13-6, but will host Liberty and Wichita State before facing the Wildcats.
ACU and UNT previously played on Feb. 20 in Abilene with the Mean Green taking the victory, 6-1.
