
Golden Hurricane Blow Past Wildcats in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. — Women's tennis (7-11) fell to the University of Tulsa (10-10) 4-0 on Friday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Tulsa took the lead early by winning the doubles point, and the team didn't look back from there.
Tulsa claimed the doubles point with decisive wins on courts one and two. Maria Cascos / Masha Vrsalovic fell 6-0 at No. 1 doubles, followed by Victoria Correa / Angela Del Campo matching the score in their loss at No. 2 doubles. The match at No. 3 doubles was left unfinished with Jess Board / Alice Klinteby trailing 1-5.
In singles, Tulsa extended its lead Klinteby's 6-1, 6-2 loss, putting them ahead 2-0. Del Campo fell in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0, which added to Tulsa's tally at No. 3 singles. Elsa Luthar's loss at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 2-6, 6-2, finished the match for the Golden Hurricane bringing the dual score to 4-0.
The remaining singles matches were left unfinished. At No. 1 singles, Vrsalovic was in a tight battle, trailing 1-6, 6-5. Cascos was leading 2-6, 6-2, 3-1 at No. 2 singles, and Correa was ahead 6-4, 4-5 at No. 5 singles when play was suspended.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will return home to host conference opponent UT Arlington. The two teams previously faced off on March 20 in Arlington, with the Mavericks taking the victory, 5-2.
Since then, UTA has lost to Cal Poly (6-1) and Arkansas State (4-0). They will look to return to the win column Saturday morning against UT San Antonio at home.
