ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's tennis will face its highest nationally ranked opponent of the season Saturday when the Wildcats battle fifth-ranked NC State at 5 p.m. in Lubbock to conclude a two-match weekend that starts with a Friday 5 p.m. dual vs. Texas Tech.
The Wolfpack is off to an 11-2 start with four wins over nationally ranked programs. They have three singles players ranked among the top 45 in the country according to the ITA, while their No. 1 doubles team is composed of Alana Smith and Anna Rogers. NC State also claims the No. 14 team in the ITA of Adriana Reami and Jaeda Daniel.
The Lady Raiders (2-2) are another good doubles team led by the 35th-ranked duo of Lisa Mays and Nell Miller and the No. 52 combination of Olivia Peet and Margarita Skriabina. This is first dual match between Texas Tech and ACU since 2016, a 4-0 win for the Lady Raiders.
Peet and Miller held off the ACU team of Sarah Adams and Allison Stewart last fall in the semifinals of the Midland Racquet Club, 9-7.
ACU is 3-4 this spring and has one weekend (Feb. 22) of non-conference competition remaining before starting its Southland Conference Championship defense at home on Friday, Feb. 28 vs. Southeastern Louisiana.
