ACU Coast to Wins

ABILENE – ACU women's tennis team win streak reached nine games as they knocked off New Mexico Military Institute, 9-0 and took a 6-1 decision from Division I Texas-Pan America to close out the ACU March Invitational.
The No. 6 Wildcats made quick work of NMMI earning a sweep and their eighth straight win. No. 1 singles Julia Mongin played the day's closest match knocking-off Karla Martinez, 7-6, 6-4.
ACU, who is the No. 1 ranked team in the South Central region at 10-3, defeated Texas An America, 6-1 to close out the Wildcats final home mach of March. No. 1 double teammates Jaclyn Walker and Micah Hermsdorf fell to the pairing of Anderson and Katy, 9-7. However, ACU took No. 2 and No. 3 doubles to record the point.
In singles action it was all Wildcats and in dominating fashion. Cassie Carver dropped her No. 3 singles match giving UTPA their only score of the match, 4-6, 7-6, 10-8.
The Wildcats will return to the courts this weekend as they play matches with the No. 6 and No. 7 ranked teams in the South Central Region, St. Edward's and Incarnate Word. A stop in San Antonio on Friday the Wildcats will play Division I Texas-San Antonio and St. Mary's before a conference match with Incarnate Word on Saturday. ACU and St. Edward's will close out the road trip on Sunday in Austin.
