Wildcats win seventh straight

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The seventh-ranked ACU Wildcats tuned up for the Blue-Gray Classic on Wednesday with an easy 9-0 win over Stillman College on the campus of Samford University.

The Wildcats' seventh straight win pushes them to 20-3 on the season, clinching the program's 12th straight 20-win season.

ACU will be part of a tough field at the Blue-Gray Classic starting Thursday in Montgomery, Ala. In the women's draw, there are four NCAA Division II ranked programs. Barry (13-2) enters the tournament ranked fifth in the nation while Valdosta State (8-2) is ranked sixth, ACU (20-3) is ranked seventh and the University of West Florida (8-7) is ranked ninth.

ACU and Barry will open play at 10 a.m. Thursday, while Auburn-Montgomery will face Valdosta State at noon and at 3 p.m. ACU will play West Florida. The pairings for Friday's rounds will be determined by Thursday's action.

The Wildcats had no trouble with Stillman on Wednesday as they lost only three points in nine matches, winning two of three doubles matches by 8-0 scores and five of six singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
