WTEN blanks McNeese for flawless homestand

ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's tennis improved to 2-0 vs. the Southland Conference and climbed to within a match of .500 at 6-7 following Sunday's splendid 7-0 win over McNeese at the Eager Tennis Center.
Carrying an injured player on their roster, the Cowgirls were forced to default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Even so, the Wildcats seemingly dominated their active competition with their top three-line players all winning in straight sets, and the No. 1 doubles tadem of Sarah Adams and Nini Memishishi capturing a 6-2 win over Matilde Mulatero and Sofia San Jose Moreno.
Adams and Memishishi have won four straight matches together at No. 1 in improving to 6-3 this spring.
Memishishi, who also won, 6-5, 7-5 at No. 2 singles over Carlotta Romito, has won her last four decisions and is tied with freshman Claire Fisher for the team lead with seven singles victories.
Adams won at No. 1, 6-1, 7-5 over Marija Mastilovic, and at No. 3 sophomore Allison Stewart triumphed over Moreno, 6-3, 7-5.
ACU was pushed to a third set at the fourth and fifth positions. Freshman Andrea Guerrero held off Mulatero at No. 4, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3, and junior Ileana Mocciola topped Hanna Blinouskaya, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.
Next up for the Wildcats is a Friday / Sunday trip to East Texas where they'll face both Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin.
