No. 6 Wildcats Post 7-0 Win Over No. 33 St. Edward's

ABILENE - The sixth-ranked Abilene Christian women's tennis team extended its impressive winning streak to a fourth match after blanking No. 33 St. Edward's 7-0 Saturday at the Teague Events Center.
The Wildcats improved to 12-2 with the victory and 3-0 vs. nationally ranked opponents, while the Hilltoppers fell to 6-4. ACU has outscored its opposition 33-1 during its most recent winning streak and now has eight shutout victories on the season.
Having to play on three indoor courts during a cool, rainy morning in the Big Country, the Wildcats began their dual with a fairly quick sweep of doubles. Laura Mongin and Madelyn Walker at the No. 3 position shutout the tandem of Samantha Siegel and Francesca Chahor, 8-0, and a spot above them at No. 2, the South Central region's No. 1 duo of Julia Mongin and Brittany Reed topped Paige Rachel and Rafaela Haegele, 8-1.
Julia Mongin and Reed remain undefeated at 4-0.
Competing on the No. 1 line, the nation's 21st-ranked duo of Micah Hermsdorf and Hannah Kelley defeated SEU's Audrey Tompkins and Alexandra Khadzhyan, 8-5.
Hermsdorf and Kelley have won six straight at the top doubles position.
Julia Mongin and Hermsdorf, ranked third and 12th, respectively, in the nation clinched the match with their straight-set victories at No. 1 and 2 singles.
Mongin improved to 7-1 with her 6-3, 6-2 win over Khadzhyan, while Hermsdorf raised her spring record to 12-2 (8-0 at No. 2) with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph against Rachel.
Further down the lineup, 39th-ranked Brittany Reed held off Tompkins at No. 3, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, and at No. 5, Laura Mongin defeated Heather Brien, 6-1, 6-0.
Matches featuring Emily Conrad at No. 4 and Kelley at No. 6 went unfinished due to time constraints.
The Wildcats return to action Monday at Missouri-Kansas City for the start of their Spring Break road trip. Additional opponents include Northwest Missouri State, Rockhurst, and Lone Star Conference rival Cameron.
