
Women’s Tennis Loses Close Match to New Mexico State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — The Wildcats fell to New Mexico State University 4-3 on Sunday at the NM State Tennis Center. ACU split the singles matches with victories at the No. 2, No. 4, and No. 5 positions but was unable to secure the doubles point.
The Aggies secured the doubles point with victories on courts three and two. The duo of Jess Board / Alice Klinteby lost their match 6-4 at No. 3 doubles, while Victoria Correa / Angela Del Campo lost a tight match 7-6 at No. 2 doubles. Maria Cascos / Masha Vrsalovic earned a 6-4 result at No. 1 doubles, but it wasn't enough to take the doubles point.
In singles action, Vrsalovic lost in the third set, 6-7, 6-1, 6-2, before the Wildcats responded with a win at No. 5 singles as Correa won 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Elsa Luthar matched Vrsalovic's result, 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.
Cascos captured a thrilling 6-3, 0-6, 6-4 victory at No. 2 singles, tightening the match score. Klinteby added another point for Abilene Christian with a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles. The decisive point came from the Aggies on court three, as Del Campo fell in a tightly contested match, 6-2, 5-7, 6-4.

The Wildcats will be on the road for every match in the month of March, with their next match coming on March 13 at Missouri State. The Bears are 4-9 in their season so far.
