Wildcats Best Bears in First of Weekend Matchups

RUSTON, La. — ACU women's tennis (7-8) defeated Missouri State University (4-10) 6-1 on Friday in a neutral-site matchup. The Wildcats secured the doubles point and claimed five out of six singles matches.
The Wildcats secured the doubles point with victories on courts one and two. Maria Cascos / Masha Vrsalovic dispatched their opponents with a 6-2 score at No. 1 doubles, while Victoria Correa / Angela Del Campo dominated the Bears at No. 2 doubles, 6-1. The match on court three featuring Jess Board / Alice Klinteby was left unfinished at 4-4.
In singles play, ACU quickly extended its lead. On court one, Vrsalovic claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win. Del Campo added another point at No. 3 singles, 6-4, 6-4, while Klinteby secured the Wildcats' win as she completed a straight-sets victory at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1.
Elsa Luthar contributed to the Wildcats' total with a decisive 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles. The match at No. 5 singles saw Correa rally to a 5-7, 6-3, 10-1 victory, rounding out a comprehensive performance for Abilene Christian.
UP NEXT
The Wildcats will face the host school, Louisiana Tech University, on Sunday at 11 a.m. The Bulldogs are 9-2 this season, and will face Missouri State Saturday morning.
