ST. GEORGE, Utah --
The Abilene Christian women's tennis team completed its run at the 2025 WAC Tennis Invitational on Saturday with runner-up finishes in singles and doubles.

Masha Vrsalovic reached the singles championship match with a straight-set win in Friday's semifinal. In the title match, Tarleton State's Maria Castano held serve in the first game, then the two players broke serve in each of the next nine games. Vrsalovic pulled within a game four times, but could not hold serve as Castano took set one, 6-4.

In set two, Vrsalovic found herself in a 2-1 hole and could not climb out with Castano winning 6-1. Though the match was won in two sets, there were multiple extended rallies where the ACU senior showed tremendous grit and determination.

"[Masha] competed really, really well," ACU head coach Bryan Rainwater said. "The biggest thing with her is keeping a good attitude and being a competitor. Hats off to Castano, she played really, really well in the second set. I am really proud of Masha all weekend for sticking with the gameplan, and competing extremely well. I think that's going to help us a lot going into the spring."

Fellow senior Alice Klinteby gutted out a three-set win in the singles consolation bracket on Saturday morning, winning 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 [10-6].

"Alice did a great job. Her struggle lately has been getting over the hump, so today was a really, really big step in the right direction," said Rainwater.

Klinteby and Vrsalovic teamed up to reach the doubles championship on Friday where they fell in a tight match to Tarleton State, 6-3, 7-6 [11-9].

"I am pleased with both of them. There were lots of nerves in this tournament because it means a lot to them. That's what happened to Masha in her first match, but then she turned it around and played really amazing tennis on Friday.

"Hopefully moving into the spring this will give us a lot of confidence to play our game and stick with our game. I am really proud of how they competed in singles and doubles."
