ST. GEORGE, Utah -- The ACU women's tennis team finished runner-up in doubles, and has a chance at winning the singles championship at the WAC Tennis Invitational.

The Wildcat pair of Masha Vrsalovic and Alice Klinteby fought hard in the doubles final, extending a second-set tiebreaker, but lost to Tarleton State, 6-3, 7-6 [11-9].

In singles competition, after a furious comeback on Thursday sent her to Friday's semifinals, Vrsalovic did not need to rally as she breezed past Tarleton State's Emma Persson to a 6-1, 6-3 victory.

Vrsalovic -- one of ACU's four seniors on the team -- advances to play TSU's Maria Castano in the singles final on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

The winners of the singles and doubles draws earn automatic berths in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships to be played Nov. 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

On the consolation side of the singles bracket, Klinteby narrowly lost to UT Arlington's Sofia Selle in three sets -- 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 [7-5].

Klinteby plays in the seventh place match on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT.
