Klinteby, Vrsalovic Come Back to Advance to WAC Championship

ST. GEORGE, Utah -- ACU tennis player Masha Vrsalovic made two rallies, first in her singles match, and then with doubles partner Alice Klinteby, to keep championship hopes alive at the WAC Tennis Invitational on Thursday.
Vrsalovic and Klinteby lost the first set of their semifinal doubles match, but stormed back to skunk their opponents in set two before winning the match in the 10-point tiebreaker. The 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 [10-5] victory sends the two seniors to the doubles championship on Friday at 2 p.m. CT.
ACU plays a pair from Tarleton State -- Maria Castano and Aya Ishii -- with the winner claiming an automatic spot in the second-ever NCAA Doubles Championship in November.
Each of the WAC's four women's tennis programs sent two singles players, and one doubles team. The winners of each draw earn an automatic spot in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships which is scheduled for Nov. 18-23 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
Vrsalovic and Klinteby represented the Wildcats in both sections of play.
In singles action, Klinteby fell in straight sets while Vrsalovic again came from behind to win. Vrsalovic rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Utah Tech's Maya Inouye, and will play in the singles semifinal round on Friday at 10 a.m. CT.
The singles championship is Saturday at 11:30 a.m. CT.
