Women's Tennis Drops Match at Texas Tech

Box Score LUBBOCK - The ACU women's tennis team lost its second match of the season, 6-0 at Texas Tech on Sunday afternoon.

The dual was played indoors at the Lubbock Country Club due to the cold weather.

In doubles competition, the Wildcats' pairs of Olivia Sears / Masha Vrsalovic and Hebe Toyos / Jess Board both lost their matches 6-2.

At the number one singles position Sears held tough and took her Tech opponent the distance. Sears won the first set 7-5, then dropped the second frame 6-2. Tech's Mariia Hlahola finished off the tiebreaker over Sears 10-4.

Toyos' singles match versus Jermine Sherif was not completed.

ACU was scheduled to face the Xavier Musketeers on Saturday in Lubbock, but the frigid and windy conditions canceled the match. Texas Tech's men's tennis team also played in Lubbock on Saturday and utilized the country club's indoor courts.

Up next, ACU hosts New Mexico State on Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Judi and Cecil Eager Tennis Pavilion. The Wildcats had won six straight over the Aggies until NMSU earned a 5-2 victory in Las Cruces last season.
