Cats Pick Up Wins at ACU Invite

ABILENE – Abilene Christian won three singles matches and three doubles matches in the first round of the ACU Invite on Friday.
The Cats also picked up two victories via injury withdrawal.
Maryjoe Crisologo and Libby Blair won their first-round doubles match against Tarleton State while Masha Vrsalovic and Hebe Toyos defeated their New Mexico State opponents in the consolation round. Olivia Sears and Maria Cascos also won in the consolation round, defeating a tandem from Texas-San Antonio. Eva Arranz and Andrea Guerrero advanced via injury in the consolations.
Guerrero and Blair also won their first round Flight C singles matches and Arranz picked up a Flight D win as well. Guerrero and Arranz beat opponents from Tarleton State and Blair got a victory over NMSU. Vrsalovic also advanced via injury withdrawal.
"This tournament has some really tough competition," said ACU Head Coach Bryan Rainwater. "It is good to see this level early in the fall. We had a pretty good showing in singles again. Looking forward to learning and coming back to compete tomorrow."
