ACU Claims Two More WAC Titles

NACOGDOCHES – Abilene Christian landed two conference champions and finished fifth in the men's standings (83 points) and sixth in the women's standings (68) at the Western Athletic Conference Track and Field Championships on Saturday.
 
The day started well with Zoe Burleson capturing the discus title with a throw of 51.99 meters. Kailey Roskop was ninth in the event with a personal record of 45.76.
 
Ella Anttila ended the field events with a championship in the triple jump, clearing 13.03 meters.
 
ACU had seven runner-up finishes including Ja'Dasia Sims in the high jump in which she cleared 1.74 meters for a personal record.

Savannah Walker, Ja'Kaylon Sabbath, Courtney Latham and Sims claimed second in the 4x400 relay at 3:43.62
 
Jack Marshall doubled up runner-up finishes in the 100 and 200 meters in 10.39 and 20.67, respectively.
 
Jared Williams was second in the 400 meters at 46.14 for another personal best.
 
Jamal January also had a personal best in the 110 hurdles in 13.66, which would have been a new WAC Meet record had he not finished behind the new record-holder. Jeremy King was third at 14.12 for yet another personal best.
 
Nathanial Collier was second in the discus at 53.40 meters
 
William Harris placed fifth in the triple jump at 14.83 meters with Donovan Ramirez coming in at 14.02 for 12th.
 
ACU had double-scoring in two women's events. Sims was fifth in the 400 meters at 54.62 and Savannah Walker finished eighth at 55.65 for a personal record.
 
Kaitlyn Callaway was fifth in the javelin at 43.69 with Jessica Campbell in eighth at 38.32.
 
Cooper Goggans placed seventh in the 800 meters at 1:52.35.
 
The women's 400 relay of Ja'Kaylon Sabbath, Payton Kirk, Walker and Smith took eighth at 46.06.
 
Kevin Castruita was 13th in the 5000 at 14:54.07 and Neal Helgerson came in 28th at 15:34.07.
 
Peyton Bornstein crossed the finish line in 18:50.71 for 35th in the women's 5000.
 
ACU learns of its West Regional qualifiers on Monday and heads to Sacramento for that meet the following week.
