Biography
2024-2025: will compete indoors to complete his ACU eligibility.
2023:2024: Indoors – competed in 5 indoor meets and began the season in a big way – winning the
Grand Valley State Holiday Open 800 in a new indoor PR of 1:49.92, his first time to dip under 1:50 at
that distance. At the WAC Championship, Cooper placed 4 th in the 800; ran the anchor leg on the 7 th
place 4x400 relay; and the 800 leg on the 8 th place Distance Medley Relay. Outdoors: ran in 9 outdoor
meets in a very busy outdoor season. In finishing 7 th place in the 400 in the Masked Rider, he ran a PR
time of 47.91. Additionally, Cooper won the Mean Green Invitational in Denton; finished 2 nd in the
Arkansas Twilight 800 in Fayetteville in a new outdoor PR of 1:48.20; and placed 4 th in the prestigious
Michael Johnson Invitational 800. At the WAC Championship in Orem, UT, Cooper won his first individual
conference title in the 800 and ran the anchor on the 6 th place 4x400 relay. He finished his ACU outdoor
career by placing 25 th in the NCAA West First Round meet running a 1:48.92, only .23 of a second from
running in the 2 nd round.
2022-2023: Cross Country – competed in 3 XC meets during the season. Did not compete in the
conference championship. Indoors – ran in 5 indoor meets for the Wildcats, including getting 3 rd at the
Pittsburg State Invitational 800 and 8 th at the TTU Matador Qualifier 800. Finished the indoor season at
the WAC Championship by placing 15 th in the 800 and scoring points at the meet by running the 800
meter leg on the 8 th place Distance Medley Relay. Outdoors - ran in 7 meets on the year – running the
800 at each meet. Highlights included winning the Oliver Jackson Twilight meet in a new PR of 1:51.09; a
2 nd place finish at the North Texas Classic in Denton; 5 th place finishes in both the Wes Kittley Invitational
and the TTU Masked Rider, as well as an 8 th place finish in a strong field at the Michael Johnson
Invitational. Topped off the season by finishing 7 th in the 800 at the WAC Championship meet in
Nacogdoches.
2021-2022: Cross Country – 79 th in the WAC championship and 10 th in the Naimadu Classic. Indoors – the
season was highlighted at the WAC championships, placing 14 th in the mile and scoring points at
conference running the leadoff 1200 meter let on the 5 th place distance medley relay. Outdoors
– competed in 8 total meets for the Wildcats outdoors, including placing 2 nd in the Wes Kittley
Invitational steeplechase with a PR time of 9:26.17 and winning the War Hawk Classic 800. Finished the
outdoor season by finishing 5 th in the WAC Championship 800 (running a 1:51.94 in the prelims), his first
time to score in an individual event at a conference meet.
2020-2021: Cross Country – 7 th in the ACU-Baylor Duel Inv in the fall, then placed 59 th in the SLC XC meet
in the spring. Indoors – placed 12 th in the SLC mile and scored points by running on the 6 th place distance
medley relay, running the 1200 meter leadoff leg, but the indoor season was a redshirt year for all
Outdoors – finished 14 th in the SLC steeplechase, as well as getting 5 th in the North Texas Classic
steeplechase in Denton.
Before ACU: Placed 63 rd in the Texas 5A XC as a senior, but had his outdoor senior T&F season shortened
by the pandemic. However, in his shortened senior year, he was ranked #9 in Texas and #44 in the U.S.
with his time of 4:19.65 in the 1600. As a HS junior, Cooper placed 2 nd in the District 4-5A 1600 and 3200
in 2019.
