Biography
2022-2023: Indoors – competed in 3 indoor meets for the Wildcats, including a 11th place finish in the TTU Red Raider Open 400, but did not compete in the WAC Indoor Championship meet. Outdoors – competed in 6 outdoor meets for ACU, getting 12th in the Wes Kittley Invitational 200, 9th in the War Hawk Classic 400 and 14th in the Oliver Jackson Twilight 200. He finished his freshman year at the WAC Championships in Nacogdoches as he placed 20th in the 400 and 31st in the 200 and scored in his first championship meet by running the 3rd leg on the 7th place 4x400 relay.
Before ACU: Competing for the Titans of West Salem HS, Tyce place 5th in the Oregon 6A 400 at the state meet in 2022. At the Mountain Valley Conference meet that same year, he won the 400 and placed 8th in the 200. Running in the summer of 2022 at the USATF Junior Olympics Region 13 meet, he placed 4th in the 200 and 6th in the 400. HS bests are 49.27 in the 400 and 22.43 in the 200. He also lettered in soccer at West Salem.
Personal: Salutatorian for the class of 2022 at West Salem HS. His parents are Ryan and Kristin Chaney. Tyce has a long history of college T&F athletes in his family. His Father, Ryan, was the NAIA national 400 meter champion both indoors and outdoors in 1997 and is in the George Fox University Sports Hall of Fame. His mother, Kristin (Oelrich), was an All-America runner on the 4x400 relay for George Fox University in 1996. Both of his grandfathers lettered in T&F in college – Mike Chaney at the University of Oregon and Harv Oelrich at Southern Oregon University.
