2022-2023: Indoors – after a transfer from DeAnza Community College, Matthew ran in 4 indoor meets, finishing his first season to ever compete indoors by placing 10^th at the WAC indoor championship in a PR indoor time of 48.60 and anchoring the ACU relay to a 8^th place finish. Earlier in the year, he also ran a relay split of 48.16 at the TTU Jarvis Scott Invitational. 
 
Before ACU: 2021-2022 - Competed for DeAnza Community College located in Cupertino, CA. At the Northern California (NorCal) Community College Championships, he placed 4^th in the 400. Collegiate bests in his single year at DeAnza were 22.35 in the 200 and 48.83 in the 400. He did not compete indoors, so he is a freshman indoors for ACU in 2023.

Before College: His 2020 season was cut short by the COVID pandemic, but during his HS junior year in 2019, he finished 5^th in the CIF Central Coast Section 400. His HS bests were 49.93 in the 400 and 22.66 in the 200. He also lettered in basketball at Cupertino HS.

Personal: 2020 graduate of Cupertino HS. His parents are Lance and Connie Mills and Stephanie and Reece Dozier. Matthew is a Marketing major and is also a volunteer at New Hope Church
