EL PASO, Texas -- Abilene Christian women's tennis won its seventh-straight match in its series vs. UTEP Saturday afternoon at the El Paso Tennis Club, recording its first 6-1 win over the Miners since 2012. The Wildcats are now 2-3 on the year while UTEP fell to 1-1.

ACU swept all three doubles courts by scores of 7-6, 6-3 and 6-1, and earned three of their five singles points in three sets. Senior Sarah Adams at No. 1 and freshman Claire Fisher at No. 6 each battled back from a set down to defeat their respective opponents, Vanessa Valdez and Maria Aveiga, while junior Nini Memishishi held off Erandi Martinez at No. 2, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.

Freshman Andrea Guerrero and junior Illeana Mocciola were straight-set winners at the No. 4 and 5 positions.

Adams has won her last three decisions at the top line since starting the year 0-2 with losses coming against Oklahoma State and Wichita State.

The Wildcats' road trip continues a week from Sunday with a 9 a.m. / 1 p.m. Tulsa doubleheader vs. Oral Roberts and the Golden Hurricanes.
