WTEN twin bill starts with win over UTRGV

ABILENE - Abilene Christian women's tennis celebrated its first team victory of the young season with a 7-0 triumph over UTRGV Sunday on the indoor courts of the Teague Special Events Center. The Wildcats then lost a 6-1 decision to SMU with the lone point earned by senior Sarah Adams at No. 1 singles vs. Sarai Monarrez Yesaki, 7-5, 6-3.

Adams also defeated UTRGV's Katarina Sasaroga, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 1 and scored a 6-1 doubles win alongside junior Nini Memishishi vs. the Vaquero tandem of Sasaroga and Sandra Putz.

ACU swept UTRGV in doubles and collected a win at No. 3 vs. SMU as the duo of freshman Claire Fisher and Allison Stewart doubled up the Mustang combination of Tiffany Hollebeck and Katherine Jakeway, 6-3.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Feb. 1 with a noon match at UTEP.
