Wildcats begin road trip with 6-1 win at Tyler

TYLER, Texas - Competing in its first dual in more than two weeks, the Abilene Christian women's tennis team toppled the Apaches of Tyler Junior College Thursday morning, 6-1.
The victory keeps the Wildcats undefeated at 6-0, while Tyler falls to 6-4.
Junior Kaysie Hermsdorf also stayed unbeaten in singles and doubles competition following a pair of close victories. She and partner Brittney Reed edged Joanna Savva and Paige Murdock, 9-8, to sweep the doubles point, and in singles she held off Elizabeth Bagerbaseh, 6-4, 3-6, 10-6.
Hermsdorf is now 8-0 in singles with half her wins coming at the No. 2 position, while in doubles she and Reed are 11-0.
Also victorious on the singles court today were Erin Walker, Lucile Pothier, Whitney Williams and Nada Marjanovic. Pothier - a freshman - and Marjanovic - a junior - are a combined 12-0, while Walker is working on a three-game winning streak.
In doubles play, Williams/ Walker and Pothier/Carli Knezevich won their matches at the No. 2 and 3 positions by matching 8-2 scores.
ACU's eight competitors are a combined 26-11 in doubles (.703) and 35-16 in singles (.686).
The Wildcats are scheduled to play at Stephen F. Austin and Northwestern State Saturday and Sunday at noon, but those plans are on hold as rain is forecast for that region throughout the weekend.
