Tech Ends ACU's Unbeaten Streak

LUBBOCK – Abilene Christian's unbeaten and shutout string ended at five games after Texas Tech scored three first-half goals for a 3-0 win on Sunday.
The Wildcats had established a school record with five shutouts to open the season with a 4-0-1 record – the best since the school joined NCAA Division I.
"I'm so impressed with our resiliency and grit in the game, especially the second half," said ACU Head Coach Stephen Salas. "We put good pressure throughout the whole game that led to a lot of transitions in our favor. Texas Tech will be a top-25 team by the end of the season, which will help us prepare to be a strong contender for WAC play. We had a couple of players sick and injured today, so only having one game this week will help us rest up for another tough opponent on the road in Baylor. A lot of positive growth was seen today."
ACU was held to four shots on Sunday with Emma Nylund, McCarly Holloman, Peyton Hill and Chayse Thorn getting one each. Thorn and Nylund had ACU's only shots on goal.
Tech scored in the third, 19th and 41st minutes of the contest. Lili Ross finished with five saves and the Cats shut down the Red Raiders in the second half.
ACU, 4-1-1, gets a week to prepare for its next match – a Sunday night tilt at Baylor. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
