
Wildcat Soccer Stays Hot With Comeback Win Over APSU

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. — ACU women's soccer defeated Austin Peay State University 2-1 on Sunday. After a scoreless first half, Abilene Christian scored twice in the second half and held a 21-15 advantage in shots.
The first half saw no goals scored for either team, but each goalkeeper made three saves in the first 45. ACU dominated the game from the corners, totalling nine corner kicks in the first half for 11 overall, while Austin Peay only had one.
After falling behind in the 52nd minute, Addison Briscoe scored her seventh goal of the season in the 58th, which is tied for second most by a freshman in ACU's Div. I history. The record is currently held by Caylen Wright, who scored eight goals in 2019. Briscoe's goal was assisted by Mikayla Abrenica, who now has three on the season.
Emma Taylor scored the first goal of her career in the 75th minute to put the Wildcats on top, and the team was able to maintain the lead through the final whistle. Her goal was assisted by Amelia Miller, her second in the 2026 season.
ACU's 21 shots came from 12 different players, with Briscoe leading the way with six shots. Abrenica added two shots, including one on goal.
Bella Medrano made six saves in her 90 minutes in goal, bringing her season total to 71 saves. Coming into Sunday's match, Medrano ranked fourth nationally in save percentage, with a UAC-leading .900.

The Wildcats host the University of West Georgia on Thursday, Oct. 15, at Elmer Gray Stadium in Abilene for their next game.
The Wolves are 0-10-2 this season, with a 0-5 conference record and sit at the bottom of the Blue Division.Â
