Soccer Starts Second Half Of Conference With Home-Field Advantage

ABILENE — After five out of 10 conference games, the Wildcats sit atop the Red Division with a UAC record of 3-0-2, and they trail only Eastern Kentucky, who is 4-0-1 in the overall conference standings. ACU and the Colonels are the only two undefeated teams remaining in the conference.Â
However, this may not be the case after the weekend slate. With the two teams scheduled to play each other on Sunday, if one team finds the victory, the other will ultimately find their first loss of conference play in 2026.
Before Sunday's game, however, the Wildcats will host West Georgia, who is currently sitting at the bottom of the conference at 0-5, and have yet to win a game so far this season. The Wolves have scored only six goals in 12 matches, averaging only 7.3 shots per game, while their opponents this season have averaged 18.1 shots per game.
ACU has maintained its strong defensive threat throughout the season, with goalkeeper Bella Medrano ranking fourth in the NCAA in save percentage at .897, while the team ranks third at .900, both marks leading the UAC.
On the attacking side of the field, Addison Briscoe was announced on Monday as the conference's Player of the Week after her two goals in two games, both of which the Wildcats won on the road. Briscoe's sixth and seventh goals of the season place her one behind the freshman Div. I record for the Wildcats, a record set by Caylen Wright in 2019.
Briscoe's recognition was the sixth of the season for ACU, but the first time the team has been awarded Player of the Week. She stays on a hot streak, having scored in five of the last six matches for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats have not lost a game since Sept. 3 on the road at Tulsa, and they will look to extend that streak against the bottom and top of the UAC this week. Both games will take place at Elmer Gray Stadium in Abilene, where the Wildcats have lost just one game this season.
Friday's match against West Georgia is scheduled for a noon kickoff, despite its original scheduled start of Thursday night at 7 p.m.Â
Sunday's match against the Colonels will also kick off at noon, streaming on ESPN+.
