Wildcats Hold Off Lobos, 4-2

ABILENE – Abilene Christian handed New Mexico its first women's tennis loss of the spring semester, scoring a 4-2 win on Friday.
Masha Vrsalovic got the clinching win in her first-line singles win, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.
"The team carried the energy from TCU into this match," said ACU Head Coach Bryan Rainwater. It started in our warmup this morning. We were very focused and kept it going into the match.
After UNM took a 1-0 lead in doubles, ACU scratched back, with Vrsalovic and Olivia Sears taking No. 1 at 6-3 and Eva Arranz and Andrea Guerrero taking the third line, 7-6 (7-5).
"In doubles, just a huge win by our No. 1 team," said Rainwater. "They've had an up and down season but came out fighting. Our three team was down early and fought back to get that win."
Maryjoe Crisologo won at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3, for a 2-0 lead. After dropping third singles, Arranz scored a line-six win, 6-4, 6-2 that gave the Cats a 3-1 lead.
Maria Cascos fell after two tiebreakers in No. 4 singles, but Vrsalovic was able to secure the win.
"We took some early leads and were feeling pretty good but then it got tight everywhere but every single court kept the energy. Everyone kept cheering for their teammates. Just a huge team win for us today."
The Wildcats return to action at 10 a.m. on Saturday, taking on Lamar.
