Soccer reloads at three positions with 2020 signees

ABILENE – ACU women's soccer head coach Casey Wilson announced last week that three players signed their national letters-of-intent for the 2020 season. The Wildcats found talent in the net, at defender, and at forward for next season; ACU adds three to a roster that includes 29 returners from the 2019 campaign.

Lily Foster, Hannah Gage, and Megan McAleer will become the next group of Wildcats in the fall.

"This year's class is a bit smaller and incomplete at this point," stated Wilson. "We brought in an extremely large quality class last year and expect that group to matriculate in well after losing the seven seniors at the conclusion of this season."

"That being said, these three young ladies are important additions and will be the future of this program. We strive to bring in quality individuals with the ability to play soccer at a very high level. The coming years will be exciting as we continue to reload."

"Lily is a keeper with good size and fantastic instincts. She absorbs information very quickly and applies it well. We have seen her be very explosive and is good with the ball at her feet. I have been watching her for the last four years and am eager to get to work with her."

Hannah Gage | 5-10 | D | Roanoke, Texas | Byron Nelson HS

Career Highlights – Byron Nelson HS
- Helped guide Byron Nelson HS to an area championship as a defender

Personal
- Given name is Hannah Lorynn Gage
- Born April 7, 2002
- Daughter of Russ and Cindy Gage
- Plans to major in nursing

Head Coach Casey Wilson
"Hannah is another very talented player with a big upside to her game. She has looked very comfortable in the holding mid and has the ability to play across the back line. Hannah strikes the ball well with the ability to be dangerous with shots on frame from 25-30 yards out. She will fit in well as a result of her playing at one of the highest levels with Sting and should hit the ground running."

Megan McAleer | 5-1 | F | Pflugerville, Texas | Weiss HS

Career Highlights – Weiss HS
- Named the Freshman of the Year
- Played at Weiss High School in Pflugerville, Texas, joining Christina Arteaga and Haleigh Heath as the three Pflugerville natives on the roster

Personal
- Given name is Megan Michelle McAleer
- Born Sept. 26, 2001
- Daughter of Richard and Elizabeth McAleer
- Plans to major in business

Head Coach Casey Wilson
"Megan is a fantastic athlete and soccer player. Losing an athlete like Shay Johnson this year will leave a void of someone who can cover a lot of ground in the middle of the field. We feel Megan could be an impact player for us right away. We are excited about Megan joining the program."
