Wildcat freshman Memishishi wins twice in Stillwater

STILLWATER, Okla. - Abilene Christian freshman Nini Memishishi Saturday won her first two collegiate dual singles matches, beating opposition from No. 16 Oklahoma State and Oral Roberts at the Greenwood Tennis Center.

A native of Tbilisi, Georgia, Memishishi first earned ACU's lone point at the No. 6 position vs. the Cowgirls, beating Shir Hornung in a third-set supertiebreaker, 7-5, 0-6, 10-5, and later she topped ORU's Mariia Kuzminskaya at No. 5, 6-1, 6-1.

ACU defeated their old Southland Conference rivals, 4-0, with additional singles points secured at No. 1 and 3 by senior Whitney Williams and junior Autumn Crossnoe. The singles matches at 2, 4 and 6 were left unfinished with all three Wildcats (Sarah Eleanor Adams, Jordan Henry and Illeana Mocciola) ahead after the first set.

The doubles point between ACU and ORU came down to the wire. Memishishi and senior Lucile Pothier blanked their opposition at the No. 2 line, but Adams and Williams had to hold on at No. 1 for a deciding 7-6 triumph. The match at No. 3 was left unfinished with Adams and Crossnoe tied at 6-6 with Brenda Mercado and Valentina Gisbert.

ACU returns to action Friday, Jan. 26 for a Dallas-based doubleheader vs. Dallas Baptist and SMU.
