Biography
2010-11 (senior): One of three seniors who opens spring with team dual match record of 80-18 in three previous seasons.
2009-10 (junior): Academic all-Lone Star Conference for team that won another LSC title with 5-1 decision over Northeastern State and NCAA regional title with 5-0 win over Incarnate Word. Won a point for Wildcats in NCAA national tournament in round of 16 loss to Lynn, 5-3, at No. 6 singles in Altamonte Springs, Fla., as Wildcats finished 27-8. Spring singles record was 18-3 (4-0 in LSC), including 4-0 at No. 5 and 11-3 at No. 6. She was 5-1 in doubles, including 4-1 at No. 3 with Lauren White. She won nine of last 10 singles matches.
2008-09 (sophomore): At LSC fall tournament, Friend won league title at No. 4 singles. Won point for Wildcats at NCAA national tournament in round of 16 win over Drury, 5-0, at No. 6 singles, but Wildcats fell in semifinals to Lynn to finish 27-6 after quarterfinal win over Concordia, N.Y., in Altamonte Springs, Fla. Team was 27-6 in spring team dual matches.
2007-08 (freshman): Member of team that finished 26-4 after regaining LSC championship, winning NCAA regional title and advancing to NCAA round of 16.
High school: A four-year letterwinner for head coach Gerald Bowen at Metro Christian Academy (Tulsa, Okla.). Was a regional champion and finished third-place at state her freshman year (2004); also a regional champion and third-place finisher at state her sophomore year (2005); a regional and state champion her junior year (2006); and a regional champion and state finalist her senior year (2007). Was a two-time captain of her team, and a four-year all-district performer.
Personal: Born 15 June 1988. 2007 graduate of Metro Christian Academy. Her older brother, Ryan Friend, played tennis at Furman University.
