ABILENE - The ACU women's tennis team suffered its second setback in a row with a 4-2 loss to North Texas on Friday afternoon at the Eager Tennis Pavilion.
The Wildcats earned the doubles point behind a 6-4 win from the pair of
Hebe Toyos and
Angela Del Campo, and a win by walkover at No. 3 doubles due to an injury by a UNT player.
The Mean Green rebounded with a strong showing in the singles competition -- taking wins at Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 5.
Maria Cascos battled back to tie her opponent after two sets, and was in the middle of the third when UNT secured the team win. Cascos' match at No. 4 singes was not finished.
ACU plays its regular season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Tarleton State.
The WAC Team Tennis Championships will be held April 17-19 at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington. Quarterfinal matches will be played Thursday, the semifinals on Friday, and the championship on Saturday, April 19.
