WTEN completes weekend with 7-0 win vs. SFA

ABILENE – Abilene Christian women's tennis even its season record at 7-7 and improved to 3-0 in the Southland Conference following Sunday's 7-0 win over Stephen F. Austin on the indoor courts of the Teague Events Center. The Wildcats, who are 5-0 at home this spring, have shutout the Ladyjacks the last three seasons and are 4-2 against them since joining the league in 2014.

ACU clinched the doubles points with wins from its No. 1 and 2 line teams. The tandem of sophomore Nini Memishishi and junior Sarah Adams improved to 9-5 overall following a 6-4 win over Kaja Ljubic and Gabi Guilarte, while sophomore Ileana Mocciola and senior Autumn Bellow won their 10th match together this season behind a 6-3 victory over Nida Kamal and Kyndall Misak.

Four of the six Wildcats' single competitors won in straight sets, including Adams, who recorded a double bagel victory over Darinka Tiboldi at No. 2. Senior Jordan Henry at No. 4 registered her team best ninth win of the year. Freshman Allison Stewart recorded her third consecutive victory after defeating Kamal, 6-3, 6-3, and Mocciola came within one point of blanking Misak at No. 6, 6-0, 6-1.

Memishishi rallied from a set down to beat Guilarte, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1, to clinch the match and even her No. 1 record at 3-3, and at the No. 3 line, Bellow held off Ljubic, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.

The Wildcats look to continue their perfect start in conference play with a Saturday home match vs. Incarnate Word at 1 p.m.
