LOST PINES – The ACU golf team will begin its penultimate tournament of the 2015-16 season Monday when they start play at the Jim West Intercollegiate at the Wolfdancer Golf Club in Central Texas.
The Wildcats are part of a 13-team field that also includes Southland Conference opponents McNeese State, Lamar and Stephen F. Austin. Also in the field are the tournaments hosts from Texas State, as well as Rice, Texas-Arlington, North Texas, UT Rio Grande Valley, Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas-Little Rock, Saint Mary's (Calif.) and Louisiana Tech.
The teams will play a 54-hole tournament over the course of Monday and Tuesday at the par-72, 7,205-yard Wolfdancer course, which has been recognized as one of the top courses in the state.
ACU head coach Tom Shaw will send Luke Carpenter, Ryan Beatty, Dillon Vaughn, Garrett Glanton and Clarke Hudgins to the tournament after qualifying last week at Diamondback Golf Club in Abilene.
After playing in this week's Jim West Intercollegiate, the Wildcats will conclude the 2015-16 season at the Southland Conference championship tournament, April 18-20 at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club in McKinney. The Wildcats finished a solid fifth at last year's conference championship tournament.
