ACU Clinches Title at Seattle U Redhawk Invitational With Three Wildcats in Top 10

UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - Abilene Christian men's golf secured its first tournament title since 2022 with a four-stroke victory at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational presented by L.A.B. Golf at Chambers Bay on Tuesday. Three Wildcats placed within the individual top 10 as ACU scored 17-under 271 in the final round and jumped four spots to 13-under 851.
ACU closed with its second-lowest round under par in the Division I era as each golfer scored below par. It marked its lowest round since shooting 19-under 269 in the third round to clinch the victory at the LaTour Intercollegiate in 2020.
The Wildcats have placed within the top four in four consecutive tournaments and in five of their last six. It's their first victory since winning the Western Athletic Conference Championship in their debut season in the WAC four years ago.
Jack Hollingsed and Thomas Buisson each tied for fourth place at 5-under 211, while Grégoire Hoyeau drew for sixth at 4-under 212. It's a career-best placement and score for Hollingsed and his first time closing below par. Hoyeau registered his top placement at a team event.
The Wildcats tallied the most birdies in the field with 52 and tied for fourth with 145 pars. They led the way on par-3 holes at 1-under and ranked second on par 4s at 12-over.
ACU outlasted second-place Idaho at 9-under 855. Utah Tech's David Liechty secured the individual crown with an eight-stroke victory at 16-under 200. In three appearances at the Redhawk Invitational, the Wildcats have placed within the top two twice following a runner-up finish in 2022.
ACU closes out the regular season on April 11-12 at Ohio State's Robert Kepler Invitational at Columbus Country Club in Columbus, Ohio.
Hollingsed rose nine spots with a career-best 5-under 67 in the final round behind six birdies. After bogeying his first hole, He shot at or below par the rest of the way. Hollingsed tied for eighth with 32 pars and ranked within the top 10 on par 3s and par 4s. He drew for the fifth-fewest bogeys to go with 10 birdies
Buisson shot 3-under 69 on Tuesday with six birdies and tied for sixth with 13 holes under par. He landed in the top 10 on par 3s and par 5s and delivered his ninth top-25 performance of his senior season. It's Buisson's second top-five placement in his past four events.
Hoyeau experienced the biggest rise of a Wildcat in the third round, soaring 20 spots with a career-best 7-under 65. It's the lowest round to par by an ACU golfer since Jaime Lewis matched it in the first round of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic last season.
Hoyeau rattled off nine birdies on Tuesday, good for a 6-under 31 on the front nine. He totaled 14 holes under par to tie for second in the field and tied for sixth on par 3s and par 4s.
Colin Leonard shot 1-under 71 in the third round to rise four spots into a tie for 35th place at 4-over 220. He drew for eighth with 32 pars. Tres Hill rounded out the Wildcats' lineup in a draw for 43rd place at 7-over 223 following a 10-spot improvement. He scored 2-under 70 on Tuesday with four birdies.
