COLUMBUS, Ohio - Abilene Christian men's golf looks to close out the regular season on a high note at the Robert Kepler Invitational at Columbus Country Club on Saturday and Sunday. The Wildcats aim for their fifth consecutive top-four placement following a victory at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational in their last time out two weeks ago.
ACU will travel with a lineup of Thomas Buisson, Jack Hollingsed, Grégoire Hoyeau, Colin Leonard and Tres Hill. Hill will get the Wildcats started with an 8:05 a.m. (CT) tee time on Saturday on No. 10. Sunday's tee times begin at 6:30 a.m. (CT) at the par-72, 7,077-yard course.
No. 134 ACU joins a 15-team field featuring six top-100 programs in host No. 66 Ohio State, No. 69 Michigan State, No. 70 Loyola Marymount, No. 82 Michigan, No. 84 Minnesota and No. 95 Indiana.
No. 104 Southern Illinois, No. 118 Butler, No. 135 Northern Illinois, No. 139 Kent State, No. 141 Miami (OH), No. 161 Cal Poly, No. 182 South Dakota State, No. 185 St. Thomas and No. 206 Kansas City round out the competition.
The Wildcats are making their third appearance at the Robert Kepler Invitational after previous visits in 2024 and 2023. Buisson and Hoyeau each competed in 2024 when it was held at OSU Golf Club. The tournament is ACU's final tuneup ahead of the Western Athletic Conference Championship on April 27-29 at The Dye Golf Course at Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney, Texas.
The Wildcats are shooting for their sixth top-four performance in their last seven events after securing their first tournament title since 2022 at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational on March 30-31. Three Wildcats placed within the individual top 10 as ACU scored 17-under 271 in the final round and jumped four spots to 13-under 851.
ACU closed with its second-lowest round under par in the Division I era as each golfer scored below par. It marked its lowest round since shooting 19-under 269 in the third round to clinch the victory at the LaTour Intercollegiate in 2020.
Hollingsed and Buisson each tied for fourth place at 5-under 211, while Hoyeau drew for sixth at 4-under 212. It was a career-best placement and score for Hollingsed and his first time closing below par. Hoyeau registered his top placement at a team event.
Buisson has placed within the top 25 at all but one event this season and has landed within the top four at two of his past four. Hollingsed has notched back-to-back top-10 outings with seventh place at the All-American Individual.
Hoyeau experienced the biggest rise of a Wildcat in the third round, soaring 20 spots with a career-best 7-under 65. It's the lowest round to par by an ACU golfer since Jaime Lewis matched it in the first round of the Bayou City Collegiate Classic last season.
Leonard tied for 35th place at 4-over 220, while Hill rounded out the Wildcats' lineup in a draw for 43rd place at 7-over 223.
