
Wildcat Men’s Golf Unveils 2026-27 Schedule

ABILENE - Abilene Christian men's golf will compete in 10 tournaments across the United States and beyond as part of its 2026-27 schedule released this week. The Wildcats embark on their first season under head coach Chance Cain while making their debut in the United Athletic Conference.
The Wildcats' travels will take them to Arizona, Oregon, Tennessee and Canada as they compete internationally for the fourth time in the past five years. ACU will take part in five tournaments hosted by power conference programs and return to four events it competed in a season ago. The Wildcats amassed eight top-five placements in 2025-26 with a tournament title at the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational.
The Wildcats will stamp themselves across Texas with six tournaments throughout the Lone Star State, including the inaugural Abilene Christian Intercollegiate in Granbury. The Wildcat men's and women's golf programs will compete at Halbert National on Oct. 19-21 live on the Golf Channel. It's the ACU men's first time hosting a tournament since 2014's Charles Coody West Texas Intercollegiate.
The Wildcats lift the lid on the 2026-27 campaign north of the border at the Canadian Collegiate Invitational on Sept. 13-15. Penn State and Kent State co-host the event at Öviinbyrd Golf Club in MacTier, Ontario. It's the third playing of the tournament, with the individual champion receiving an exemption into the 2027 RBC Canadian Open and the top performers earning exemptions into the 2027 Canadian Men's Amateur Championship.
A week later, ACU returns to the Bayou City Collegiate Classic in Houston on Sept. 21-22. Hosted by Rice at Westwood Golf Club, the Wildcats have competed at the event in nine of the past 11 seasons and placed fifth a year ago.
The Wildcats turn to another familiar destination at SMU's Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas on Oct. 4-6. ACU has taken part in the event in eight of the past nine seasons. Trinity Forest Golf Club is ranked a top-10 course in the state and a top-100 public course in the U.S. by Golf Digest. It hosted the AT&T Byron Nelson in 2018-19.
ACU wraps up the fall slate at the Abilene Christian Intercollegiate on Oct. 19-21. The event features a collective 14 power conference teams to form two of the strongest fields in the nation. Halbert National opened in 2025 under the ownership of ACU alum David Halbert ('78), a medical biotech entrepreneur and founder of Caris Life Sciences.
The Wildcats open the spring at Arizona's National Invitational Tournament in Tucson, Ariz. on Feb. 1-2, 2027. Omni Tucson National Resort's Catalina Course has previously hosted the PGA TOUR's Chrysler Classic and Southern Arizona Open.
ACU makes its way back to UTSA's Military City Collegiate in San Antonio on Feb. 21-23, 2027. The Wildcats will play on TPC San Antonio's Canyons Course, where they placed fourth at the tournament last season. The Canyons Course hosted the PGA TOUR's San Antonio Championship from 2011-15, while TPC San Antonio remains the home of the Valero Texas Open. Golf Digest ranks it a top-25 course in Texas.
The Wildcats head to Bandon, Ore. for the Bandon Dunes Championship on March 5-7, 2027. Idaho hosts the tournament at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort's Old Macdonald Course, overlooking the Oregon Coast. It's tabbed the No. 4 course in the state and 14th-ranked public course in the nation by Golf Digest.
ACU returns to Texas for Houston's All-American Intercollegiate on March 15-16, 2027. Based at the Golf Club of Houston's Tournament Course in Humble, the Wildcats placed fourth last season, while Jack Hollingsed landed in seventh at the All-American Individual on the Member Course. The Tournament Course is ranked 38th in the state by Golf Digest and staged the PGA Tour's Shell Houston Open from 2002-18.
The Wildcats close out the regular season at the Aggie Invitational on April 10-11, 2027. Texas A&M hosts the tournament at Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas. The inaugural UAC Championship is set for April 30 to May 2 at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson, Tenn. GreyStone is a 10-time host of the Tennessee Men's State Open.
NCAA Regionals are set for May 17-19, while the NCAA Championship returns to Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif. from May 28 to June 2. The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each of the six regionals will advance to the NCAA Championship.
Jack Hollingsed and Preston DeFriend return to anchor the Wildcats' squad in 2026-27. ACU added four transfers in the form of Luis Buech and Maximilian Björnström (Tarleton State), Kade McDonough (Utah) and Rex Hargrove (Arkansas). Cooper Watson signed with the Wildcats from the high school ranks.
