FIRST PITCH
ACU returns to Crutcher Scott Field to open a three game series with Eastern New Mexico in which the Wildcats lead the series 65-25. ACU is coming off a series win at Central Oklahoma and have won five of their last eight. Last year ACU fell in the series opener to ENMU, 4-3 before rallying to take the final three games of the series. The Wildcats are currently 19-14 in conference play and sit just one place behind Cameron who holds the sixth and final spot to qualify for the Lone Star Conference tournament in May, ACU hosts the Aggies in two weeks April 22-23. Will Calhoun has led the Wildcat offense hitting a team high .431 with 31 RBIs. Calhoun is also 4-1 on the mound for ACU with a 5.81 ERA. Since moving to the bullpen Zach Sneed still leads the Wildcat staff with a 5.05 ERA and 29 strikeouts while recording two saves in 41 innings pitched after going 4-3 as a starter in five starts to begin the season.
SCOUTING THE EASTERN NEW MEXICO
The Greyhounds are led by Mitch Wolfe who is hitting at a .408 clip with 27 RBIs. Like most teams around the country ENMU has seen a decline in home runs as Wolfe is also the team leader with 3 home runs. On the mound the Greyhounds main work-horse has been Anthony Smith who has a 5.91 ERA and has been on the rough end of games entering the weekend at 1-6 in 42.2 innings pitched.
UP NEXT
ACU will host St. Mary's on Tuesday in a non-conference in-region nine inning game at 4:05 p.m. The Wildcats fell to the Rattlers in early March 12-5 in San Antonino.
