ACU Finishes Off Regular Season at Utah Tech, Prepares for WAC Tournament

Diego Cardenas cranked his conference-leading 24th home run of the season in the second inning, inching closer toward Grayson Tatrow's program records of 25 home runs and 68 runs batted in. Cardenas also paces the WAC with 66 RBIs, registering a pair on Saturday, and a .735 slugging percentage.
Cardenas went 2 for 4 and scored twice. It's his 19th multi-hit game of the season and his team-high 15th with multiple RBIs. Cardenas has scored multiple times in 12 games.
ACU tallied 13 hits. Brady Ladusau drove in three runs behind an RBI single and a two-run triple. JT Thompson paced the Wildcats with three hits, two stolen bases and scored twice, while Nick Arias added two hits of his own. It's Arias' 19th multi-hit effort and Thompson's 17th. Thompson has reached base safely in 24 straight contests.
Zandt Payne crossed home plate twice with his team-best 20th multi-run performance.
Caden Greanead and Carson Wallace combined for 2.1 scoreless frames out of ACU's bullpen, allowing no hits and striking out four.
The Wildcats wasted little time getting on the board with a two-run first inning. Cardenas walked and Arias singled to put a pair on with two outs. Ladusau kept his RBI single in the infield before Brady Gray laced a base hit to left field to bring home another run.
ACU fell behind 5-2, but Cardenas got it within a run in the second inning with a two-out, two-run homer. Facing a full count, he went deep to center field to make it a 5-4 game.
The Wildcats clawed their way back from a four-run deficit to even the score at 8 in the fourth inning. Payne ripped an RBI double that scored Reese Borho, then came home on Arias' RBI single. When Thompson was hit by a pitch, Ladusau showed off his wheels with a two-run triple to right-center field that cleared the bases.
