The Wildcats look to even the series with the Trailblazers at 7 p.m. (CT) Friday. LHP Brett Lanman is penciled in to start on the bump.
Six Wildcats collected multiple hits, led by the senior Miesse. He put ACU on the board in the second inning with a solo shot, then followed with a two-run blast in the third inning. It's the first multi-home run game of his career. Miesse added an RBI single in the fifth frame of a 4-for-5 performance. He also drew a walk.
JT Thompson went 2 for 5 and had a two-run single in the fourth inning. Nick Arias was 2 for 3 at the plate, scoring a team-high three runs while drawing a trio of walks. Both Wildcats reached base safely for the 22nd game in a row. It's Arias' 18th multi-hit game and Thompson's 16th. Arias has 12 multi-run games, and Thompson has nine multi-RBI performances.
With his third-inning home run, Watkins extended his hitting streak to 12 games and matched Diego Cardenas with his ACU-best 13th multi-RBI effort. Watkins' 20 homers are third in the Western Athletic Conference.
Brady Ladusau, Brady Gray and Reese Borho each registered two hits at 7-8-9 in the lineup. Borho, making his first start since April 18 at Indiana, scored twice to accompany his season high in hits. Gray has made it aboard in eight straight games.
After falling behind 2-0, ACU responded with a pair of runs in the second inning. Miesse led off by delivering a pitch over the wall in left field. Watkins reached on an error, and the Wildcats took advantage with back-to-back singles by Ladusau and Gray. Gray's RBI base hit knotted the score at 2.
Miesse put another charge into ACU's bats with a two-run homer in the top of the third. Thompson followed with a single before Watkins sent an 0-1 offering out of the park, bringing the Wildcats within 9-6. Three walks loaded the bases for ACU in the fourth inning, and Thompson's single through the right side brought home a pair of runs to make it 12-8.
Miesse stayed hot with an RBI single in the fifth, while Gavin Brzozowski plated a run by grounding into a double play in the seventh inning. The Wildcats rounded out their scoring in the top of the eighth with RBI singles by Zandt Payne and Arias. Payne reached safely in his 10th consecutive game.
