
Wildcats roll past Tigers, 3-0

ADA, Okla. -- The red-hot ACU Wildcats needed just 65 minutes to knock off East Central in three sets Thursday night in a Lone Star Conference volleyball match at the Kerr Activities Center.
The 3-0 victory runs ACU's winning streak to 12 matches as the Wildcats improve to 24-5 overall and 9-1 in the LSC. The Tigers are now 14-18 overall and 5-5. The Wildcats -- still No. 7 in the NCAA Division II South Central Region rankings -- have an important LSC match Saturday in Durant, Okla., against Southeastern Oklahoma State, which is ranked No. 10 in the region.
The Wildcats had little trouble with East Central, coasting to the victory by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-12.
The Wildcats hit .400 Thursday against East Central, including .522 in the second set and .409 in the third set. ACU committed just eight errors on 75 total attacks while collecting 38 kills.
Junior middle blocker Shawna Hines -- the nation's leader in total blocks and blocks per set -- led everyone with 10 kills and six total blocks. Hines hit .833 with 10 kills and no errors on 12 total attacks.
Lauren Leone had eight kills, Jordan Schilling seven, Jennie Hutt six and Michelle Bacon five for the Wildcats. Ijeoma Moronu finished with 28 assists, two kills and five digs in the match.
While being dominated by the Wildcats, the Tigers also shot themselves in the foot, hitting .000 in the match with 22 kills and 22 errors on 99 total attacks.
